Nike / Strike Night
Nike’s first Strike Night took place on March 1st 2017 in London’s Collins Music Hall where hundreds of football-obsessed fans gathered to watch a head-to-head competition bringing eight of Europe's top strikers together for a knock-out competition to crown the world's best goal-scorer and promote the new Nike Hypervenom 3 football boot.
Appointed by AKQA, Another Space was brought on board to create the physical design, system design and programming of the interactive ‘intelligent’ goal, including the motion tracking and live scoring systems.
The full sized goal featured an integrated LED extrusion around the frame and a responsive digital LED net. The system tracked the ball in real-time responding to speed and accuracy, and feeding into the live scoring system. Players’ progress and live scoring results were presented in animations displayed within the LED net and on other screens around the venue.
As well as those attending the event in person, an audience of over 2.5m watched the webcast via Facebook Live broadcast by Groovy Gecko.
