Nike / Nature of Motion
Nike took over a former light bulb factory in Milan to install the temporary exhibition and showcase ‘The Nature of Motion’ during the 2016 Salone del Mobile. Working with Nike Global Energy the studio created a bespoke installation to mark the unveiling of the latest Free No.5 shoe.
The installation’s form takes inspiration from the geometry and structure of the shoe’s sole. Fabricated from laser-cut aluminium, the front face folds outwards and upwards, revealing the organic repeating pattern through the structural grid.
Gradual animated patterns of light expressed movement and flexibility, (the key assets of the Free No. 5), emerged from the LED screen behind, allowing subtle transition of compositions between the Y shapes and triangles inherent in the design.
