Contracted by Lighting Designer Willie Williams to create video content for the tour, the studio also created various special effects, which required some custom code and integration with a joystick control for hidden audience cameras.

The main custom sequence during the song ‘One’ required Willie to secretly move the cameras across the audience during the walk-in and support act, squeezing off recorded samples of people in the audience without their knowledge. Later on, this content would replay in a grid, which slowly resolved into a live shot of Bono.

During the production rehearsals, the custom code we were working on developed into a full-blown 3d stage visualiser and media playback engine, which has since developed into the well known media server and toolkit, d3, which is now developed and sold through d3Technologies.com
