James Blake / The Colour in Anything Tour
As part of a continuing collaboration with James Blake, the Studio was initially approached in 2014 to create the concept design for the forthcoming tour for James’ new album. The concept for The Colour in Anything tour then evolved to form the visual content for five tracks of James’ UK festival sets in the summer of 2016, to the entire stage and content design for the tour.
In order to create a highlighted visual experience within the performance, which was guided by the original creative direction UVA had set out in 2014, the Another Space studio built and programmed real-time, audio triggered, content to play alongside various choreographed lighting and pre-sequenced content.
The track The Colour in Anything featured a new technique we created using a 3D ’tracking pen’, which Quentin Blake, the illustrator James chose for the album cover artwork, sketched out various illustrations in the studio. We then used this data to re-create the illustration in 3d using custom real-time filters.
