James Blake / I Need a Forest Fire
As part of our ongoing work with James Blake the studio delivered a music video under the direction of UVA for ‘I Need A Forest Fire', the first release from James Blake’s album, The Colour in Anything. The track features guest vocals from Bon Iver.
The film immerses the viewer in a space inhabited by both the real and the imagined, where light and shadows co-exist with ghostly shapes. Created by interweaving physical installation and sculpture haunted by organic forms and objects from the natural and astral worlds, the scenes use dramatic shifts in perspective through both digital animation and special effects, which were then projected into a custom set and filmed, so that the final work was entirely captured on camera.
The shoot required two constructed installations combined with real-time projection, facial mapping and motion control, shot entirely in our south London studio.
